Greenville, SC – Mid-America Christian University junior shortstop Colt Pickens has been named the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Baseball Field Player of the Week, the organization released today (May 10).
Pickens hit .364 in the Evangels' three Sooner Athletic Conference tournament games this past week, with the biggest hits coming on a pair of two-run homers to lead MACU to its first SAC tourney win in school history, 14-7 over third-seeded Southwestern Christian University last Friday (May 6).
The Yukon, Okla. native then hit another home run in the Evangels' final game of the season, a 9-6 setback to SCU on Saturday (May 7).
Pickens hit a team-high .371 for the Evangels this season and had a team-best .614 slugging percentage. He also ranked second on the team in home runs (seven), RBIs (35), hits (52) and was tied for first in on-base-percentage (.462).
