OKLAHOMA CITY – The Mid-America Christian University softball squad has received the Sooner Athletic Conference Academic Team award, the league released today (June 22). The award is presented to each team that has the highest cumulative grade point average in their respective sport.
The Softball Lady Evangels tallied a 3.48 GPA for the 2015-16 season.
"This is a great honor for our program," MACU softball head coach Robert Wakefield said. "It shows what kind of young ladies we have, they have changed it into a winning program along with excelling in the classroom."
In addition, five other MACU teams recorded a GPA of 3.0 or above for the year and are listed below.

The SAC Academic Teams along with the All-Academic Teams and Commissioner's Honor Roll are presented by Cypress Risk Management.

The organization currently insures over 500,000 students nationwide and is already engaged with several other NAIA conferences in similar type of partnerships.
