Sterling, Kan. – The Sterling College (Kan.) Warriors defeated the Mid-America Christian University Evangels today (Sept. 17) 2-0 in Sterling, Kan.
Milton Leopoldo put the Warriors on the board in the 18th minute of the first half off an assist from Colton Oord.
It stayed 1-0 until Daniel Weaver scored the Warriors' second goal at the 58:20 mark.
Despite being shut out, the Evangels matched the Warriors in shot attempts (12-12) and shots-on-goal (5-5).
Gleydson Neri, Darko Nikolic, Andy Ochoa and Justin Camacho each led the Evangels (1-4) with two shots apiece.
Jakob O'Meara-Gill made two saves for the Evangels, while Julio Chavez started in the net for the Warriors (2-3-1) and stopped four shots in 75:45 of action. Joel Chavez then came in for the final 14:15 and recorded one save.
The Evangels will next return home and host Texas College next Friday afternoon (Sept. 23) at 4 p.m.
