OKLAHOMA CITY – The Texas Wesleyan University Lady Rams pulled out the first two sets in tough fashion and went on to a 3-0 win over the Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels in a Sooner Athletic Conference matchup today (Oct. 8) inside the Gaulke Activity Center.
The Lady Evangels had match point at 24-23 in both of the first two sets, but twice the Lady Rams scored three straight points to close each set out at 26-24.
In the third set, the Lady Rams were dominant and jumped out to a 9-1 lead before finishing the set and the match 25-8.
Laurel Church had a team-high 11 kills for the Lady Evangels (7-12, 1-9 SAC), with Larissa Runyan adding 10 kills.
Emily Lynch led MACU in both assists (28) and digs (18). Skylar Mylonas had 13 digs and Runyan added 12. Camera Broadnax chipped in with 10 digs.
Shelby Stinnett paced the Lady Rams (20-3, 7-3 SAC) with 19 kills and Sasha Robinson had a match-high 45 assists. Chalon Anderson led the Lady Rams with 21 digs.
The Lady Evangels will next conclude their five-game homestand Monday night (Oct. 10) at 7 p.m. against Langston University.
