OKLAHOMA CITY – Mid-America Christian University women's basketball head coach Hannah Moeller has been named the OklahomaSports.Net NAIA Women's Basketball Coach of the Year, announced today (Mar. 7). Also, junior guard Sarai Rodriguez is a first-team All-OSN pick, while sophomore guard Mikki Flores received a second-team nod.

Moeller has guided the Evangels to their best year as an NAIA program.  MACU is 20-11 overall on the season, marking its first 20 win season since joining the NAIA.

The Evangels also finished fourth in the Sooner Athletic Conference and advanced to the SAC tournament semifinals with a win over fifth-seeded Texas Wesleyan University last Tuesday night (Feb. 28).

Along the way, the Evangels matched their best-ever start as an NAIA school by beginning the season 9-1.

Rodriguez leads the team with 20.2 points per game this season and has amassed 585 points overall, a single-season school record as an NAIA school. Her ppg is second in the SAC and third in the NAIA.

In her first season with the program, Flores has dished out a school single-season record (as an NAIA school) 172 assists.  She is also second on the team in scoring (12.5 ppg) and ranks third in the SAC and fifth in the NAIA in assists per game (5.5 apg).

The Evangels are currently waiting to see if they will receive their first-ever NAIA National Tournament berth.  The bracket will be announced tomorrow night (Mar. 8) at 7 pm.

If they do not receive an NAIA bid, the Evangels would host the NCCAA Central Regional tournament beginning Friday evening (Mar. 10).
