Greenville, SC – For the fourth time this season, Mid-America Christian University junior guard Sarai Rodriguez has been named the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the organization announced today (Mar. 7).
Rodriguez averaged 19.5 points per game in the Evangels' two Sooner Athletic Conference games this week.
She scored 16 points with six rebounds and three assists in a 75-68 victory over Texas Wesleyan University and then 23 points and four boards against top-seeded and No. 6-ranked Oklahoma City University.
The Austin, Texas native is the Evangels' leading scorer this season with 20.2 ppg and is shooting 42.3 percent (85-of-201) from beyond the arc.
Rodriguez and the Evangels are currently waiting to see if they will receive their first-ever NAIA National Tournament berth. The bracket will be announced tomorrow night (Mar. 8) at 7 pm.
If they do not receive an NAIA bid, the Evangels would host the NCCAA Central Regional tournament beginning Friday evening (Mar. 10).
