Winona Lake, Ind. – The Mid-America Christian University Women's Basketball Evangels will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Championship tournament, beginning Wednesday (Mar. 15) at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center on the campus of Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind.
The Evangels will square off with seventh-seeded Bluefield College (Va.) Wednesday night at 9:15 pm.
MACU earned a berth in the NCCAA National Tournament by defeating Southwestern Christian University 85-76 Saturday (Mar. 11) to capture their first Central Regional championship since the 2010-11 season.
The national tourney appearance continues a truly historic season for the Evangels, who have won a program-high (as an NAIA school) 22 games under first-year head coach Hannah Moeller.
The Evangels are also averaging a robust 80.0 points per game, which would tie the all-time school record.
"Winning a championship is a great accomplishment and I'm so happy for our kids to get to achieve something this special," Moeller said Saturday following the Evangels' regional title win.
"We look forward to going to Indiana and finishing our season with a chance to win a national championship."
