North Newton, Kan. -- Alliyah Spatafora had a solid all-around game of 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists to lead the Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels to a 72-65 victory at the Bethel College (Kan.) Threshers tonight (Nov. 11) at Thresher Gym in North Newton, Kan.
The Lady Evangels (2-1) took control early when Spatafora scored nine points to fuel a 21-6 spurt that was capped by consecutive three-pointers by Lindsey Mann that made it 24-12.
MACU led from that point on but the Threshers used an 8-0 run that trimmed the lead to 42-40.
The Lady Evangels then responded with a 12-2 burst to again take command at 54-42.
After the Threshers clawed back within three late in the second half, Mann again put the finishing touches on a 9-2 push with a trey that stretched the lead back to double-figures at 65-55.
In addition to Spatafora's output, Mann scored 17 points and Kelli Tolar added 12. Tierra Brown scored 10 and Jamie Lamb recorded a team-high 10 rebounds.
Lauren Ulrich led the Threshers with 14 points and Jamie Tschetter had 10 boards.
The Lady Evangels will next return home to host No. 18-ranked Langston University next Thursday evening (Nov. 19) at 6 p.m. inside the Gaulke Activity Center.
