OKLAHOMA CITY -- In what will forever be a legendary moment in Mid-America Christian University athletics history, it comes as no surprise that OklahomaSports.Net has selected Malcolm Mann's game-winning shot that gave the Evangels their first-ever NAIA National Championship as its top play of 2016.
To recap the dramatic moment, the No. 1-ranked Georgetown (Ky.) Tigers had just hit a three for a 99-98 lead with four seconds left in overtime.
Mann then promptly took the inbounds pass and drove down the court and put up a shot that bounced around the rim and in to give the Evangels the dramatic win.
After a review of the monitor to make sure Mann got the shot off before time expired, it was officially ruled good that sent the Evangels into championship euphoria.
Immediately after hitting the dramatic shot, Mann said that "If I didn't see anyone within two seconds I was taking it myself. I lost the ball for a little bit and by the grace of God it went in."
On Mann's last shot, head coach Josh Gamblin stated, "I don't think we even got Malcom a screen but four seconds for him is a lifetime, he got what he wanted and it was a tremendous finish."
The shot finished off a career-high 23 points for Mann and was featured on ESPN Sportcenter's nightly "Top 10" countdown at number three.
It also put an exclamation point on a tremendous 2015-16 season for the Plano, Texas native, as Mann finished with a school record (as an NAIA school) 184 assists on the year.
This season, Mann has picked up where he left off last year, ranking second in the Sooner Athletic Conference with 5.8 assists per game.
