OKLAHOMA CITY -- The No. 8-ranked Oklahoma City University Stars improved to 12-1 overall and a perfect 3-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference with a 103-73 win over the Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels tonight (Jan. 5) at Abe Lemons Arena on the OCU campus.

The Lady Evangels hung around early, taking an 11-7 lead on a three by Nevada Denton at the 6:42 mark of the opening period.

With MACU even with the Stars at 18-18, Daniela Wallen hit a layup to put OCU ahead to stay and then nailed a three to cap an 11-2 run to finish the quarter and make it 29-20.

Daniela Galindo then scored the first five points of the second quarter for the Stars and OCU extended the lead as high as 22 before a three by Sarai Rodriguez brought the Lady Evangels within 53-34 at the break.

The first four minutes of the third quarter belonged to the Stars, as OCU used an 18-2 spurt during that span to take a 35-point lead and put it away.

Rodriguez led the Lady Evangels (11-3, 2-1 SAC) with 21 points, while tying her personal season-high with five threes and eight assists.

The Stars outrebounded the Lady Evangels 40-37, but MACU held a narrow 14-13 edge on the offensive glass.
